President - Phil Barnes CPAGB, LRPS, ARPS

I have been passionate about photography for many years, cutting my teeth on 35 mm film and would spend many an hour in a home darkroom messing around with smelly chemicals in my efforts to produce a black and white print.

I was a reluctant up taker in digital imagery but eventually dragged myself into the modern age and have never looked back. I only ever took pictures for myself or to share with family that tolerated my holiday photos. I joined a Photographic society around 10 years ago with a desire to improve my photography and learn new skills. With a bit encouragement from club members, In 2014 I gave myself a challenge to try for some accreditation and managed to attain my CPAGB and LRPS in that year. I achieved my ARPS in 2018.

I now have the honour to have been elected as President of Warrington Photographic Society and follow in the footsteps of the past presidents of this historic society working with a talented committee to ensure the enjoyment of sharing our wonderful hobby together, where friends can meet to share experiences and learn from each other in an environment that no matter what skill level of photographer you are or what genre you enjoy everyone can be assured of mutual friendship and support.
