Russell Hadfield

I have been in the Warrington Photographic Society (WPS) for about 16 months at the time of writing this. I have enjoyed photography for many years, but only started to take it more seriously when I joined the club.
I don’t have mirrorless cameras, only DSLRs, and have a Nikon D40X, D90 and a D5200. I don’t use Adobe Photoshop (and/or Lightroom) like most of the good photographer’s use, and try my hand at Affinity Photo 2 and ON1 Photo Raw 2024.
It's still a complete learning curve for me and I enjoy the challenge of improving both my taking and processing of photos
My photo attempts include informal Portraits, Bird Photography, Landscapes and Macro, and if I get the opportunity some Sports as well
I find the WPS meetings really enjoyable, with some excellent speakers and presentations, but more importantly, being able to meet like-minded people and learning from them. You won’t find a better bunch of people.
My advice to anyone new to photography, or wanting to take their photography further, to come along and meet us all. Don’t be put off by the high-quality pictures that may be on show, and just try to learn how the owners managed to get to that point.
It’s a long slow road, not a Race Track – or it is for me anyway!!
